I invented the White Castle Cheese Fry Fork.
A few years ago, White Castle began offering cheese on their fries. This became an instant favorite of mine, but I'd always
end up with this clump of fries in the middle completely covered in cheese. I'm all for getting messy, but it just seemed
like there should be a better way.
On my next few visits to White Castle, I asked if they had forks... they did not. I headed over to WhiteCastle.com and sent
over an email expressing how I loved the cheese fries, but it would be great if they had forks to hand out with them so that
I could enjoy them on the go without getting myself completely covered in cheese.
A week or two went by, and then I got this letter in the mail, which has been proudly displayed on my wall ever since.
And a blown up version for easier reading:
About a week or two after that, while I happened to be eating lunch at a White Castle, I get a call from what I believe was
a district/area manager for White Castle. He explained to me how he had been forwarded my suggestion for adding forks to
the cheese fries. He told me about a recent meeting they had where they were discussing the problem of the clump of cheese
covered fries in the middle. I find it both bizarre and extremely awesome that there was a serious corporate meeting
about cheese fries. He told me that they had tried offering cheese on the side in a plastic container, but people didn't
like it as much.
In the end, he told me that he loved my idea to supply forks with the cheese fries. He said it would take a few weeks to get
them distributed to all of the White Castles, but that I should expect to have them available soon. Attached to my letter
hanging on the wall is the first official White Castle Cheese Fry Spork that I got with my cheese fries.
So the next time you're in White Castle and you want cheese fries, have no fear that you'll get covered in cheese. Just ask
your friendly White Castle employee for a spork if they don't automatically throw one in your bag!
